WHAT IS THE REAL WORLD?
MTV's ongoing reality series about seven strangers living together while cameras follow their every move. What happens when people stop being polite and start being real? A lot!!

WHAT'S MY MOTIVATION TO SIGN UP FOR THIS SITE?
To have fun! And maybe land a spot in the Real World mansion. You'll be part of an exclusive MTV community where all of America can check you out. Create your own profile, post videos and photos, blog and chat with fans, get insider information regarding the show, and earn a chance to become an actual cast member on Real World Season 20. Why wouldn't you sign up?
 
HOW DOES THE CASTING WORK?
-Sign up and create your casting profile.
-Submit your own video, photos and blog. 
-Convince people to vote for you.

The casting consists of six Rounds, and the person who makes it to the final round and then receives the most votes becomes the final cast member in the Real World House.

HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL ACTUALLY GET A SPOT ON THE SHOW?
Only one person gets a spot in the house, and that's the lucky guy or gal who makes it through each round and then receives the most votes.  So get busy!

CAN I BE CAST?
Of course! - Anyone who registers, appears to be between the ages of 18-24, and creates a casting profile, has a chance to land that last spot in the house. If you enter the casting process the possibilities are endless.  Enter your profile, follow the casting guidelines, and get every person you know (and every person they know) to vote for you.

HOW DO I GET THE FINAL SPOT?
That part's simple. You land the spot by moving through each round of casting and then getting the most votes.

WHAT KIND OF VIDEO OF ME ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
You're a strong personality that can hold your own in the house - so tell us that!  Each Round asks for a different style of video, so get the specifics.  But overall, show us who you are, what you're all about, why you're so extraordinary, and why the heck you deserve our vote.

HOW LONG CAN MY VIDEO SUBMISSIONS BE?
Not longer than 2 minutes.  Come on, put some real imagination into it.  We don't want to see you just sitting there - try to make it interesting. Remember, America has a lot of videos to watch.

CAN I UPLOAD MORE VIDEOS THAN ARE REQUIRED?
Yes!  Once you've met your submission requirements, you can upload up to 5 videos per round.

HOW MANY PHOTOS DO I NEED TO POST?
You must post at least three photos of yourself to be in the casting, one of which must be a headshot (that would be a photo of your face.)  The others can be of you in any pose or setting. And remember, we only want to see you, not you and your 13 friends. 

CAN I POST ADDITIONAL PHOTOS?
Absolutely, post away.  But keep in mind, you should only post the best of the best.  Remember, you're trying to get votes, not chase us away.

WHAT IF I DON'T FOLLOW THE SUBMISSION GUIDELINES?
Get real, you know what happens.  Unfortunately, if you don't follow the casting guidelines [rounds specifics link] your profile will be shown the door and you will be disqualified. So be sure to READ!

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO POST THE REQUIRED SUBMISSION CONTENT UP?
It's different for each Round: 

* For Round 1, you have from 10:00pm (EST) May 2, 2007 to 9:00pm (EST) June 11, 2007, to get your profile up and make sure it meets all the casting requirements. 

* In Round 2, you have from 9:00pm (EST) June 11, 2007 until 9:00am (EST) June 28, 2007 to post your required follow-up content and complete all additional casting requirements. 

* In Round 3, from 10:00pm (EST) June 28, 2007 until 9:00am (EST) July 5, 2007 to post your final required submission.  

* Round 4, which is a closed MTV production round, from 9:01am (EST), July 5, 2007 until 9:00am (EST), July 11, 2007.

* For Round 5, you have from 9:01am (EST), July 11, 2007 until 10:00am (EST), July 18, 2007. Details here.

Remember, the quicker you post your stuff, the more incentive viewers have to vote for you!

MY VIDEO'S UP, BUT I DON'T LIKE IT.  CAN I TAKE IT DOWN?
Only the site administrator may remove a video posting - so think before you act, and make sure you've got it right posting it.  To remove a video, click here to send us the request.

CAN I EDIT MY PROFILE?
Once you've logged in to your account, just click on ‘edit profile' to change personal account information (address, phone, tags, password).  But remember, you can't change your username. So choose wisely and spell correctly!

I UPLOADED MY VIDEO, BUT IT'S NOT ON MY PROFILE.
It can take up to 24 hours for your video to be encoded and checked by our video patrol before it can be posted to your account.  Also our site administrator must police, er... review and approve.  So follow the guidelines, it speeds up the process!

HOW MUCH DOES VIDEO QUALITY MATTER?
Again, you're trying to get votes.  So it matters!  Take the time to make your video look as good and professional as possible.  Pay attention to the simple stuff - make sure you can be seen and heard clearly.

WHEN DO I FIND OUT IF I'VE MADE IT THROUGH TO THE NEXT ROUND?
At the end of each round we'll contact the profiles who have the most votes via email and will move you to the next round.  You'll also be told what you need to do to continue in the casting call.  

HOW DO I VOTE?
From the homepage, just click on the icon below a profile image.  If you're visiting a particular profile, look for the ‘vote for me' tab on the right-hand side of the page. Vote away!

AM I REALLY VOTING TO CHOOSE THE CAST MEMBER FOR REAL WORLD: SEASON 20?
What else do you think you're voting for? Seriously, yes, you are voting to help decide who the final castmate will be.

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO VOTE?
There are a total of 6 Rounds of competition. 
Round 1 voting is open for 5 weeks - from 10:00pm (EST) May 2, 2007 to 9:00pm (EST) June 11, 2007. 
Round 2 voting is open for 3 weeks - from 9:00pm (EST) June 11, 2007 until 9:00am (EST) June 28, 2007.  Round 3 voting is open for 1 week - from 10:00pm (EST) June 28, 2007 until 9:00am (EST) July 5, 2007.
Round 4 is a closed MTV production round - from 9:01am (EST), July 5, 2007 until 9:00am (EST), July 11, 2007.
Round 5 is open for 1 week - from 9:01am (EST), July 11, 2007 until 10:00am (EST), July 18, 2007.

HOW DO WE KNOW WHO'S LEADING THE VOTE?
From the homepage, go to the ‘Who's Leading' category for a listing of the profiles with the highest number of votes.  For Rounds 1 through 5, the vote tally for each individual casting hopeful is posted on their profile.

WHAT IF I'M TOO LATE FOR ROUND 1 OPEN REGISTRATION?
No worries.  Rounds 2 through 3 will continue to be open for new entries but remember, votes will cumulate all four rounds. The later you enter, the more you'll need votes so get going! For more info check out the official competition guidelines.

WHAT IF I DON'T WANT TO BE CONSIDERED FOR A SPOT ON THE CAST AND JUST WANT TO SURF THE SITE?
Go for it.  This site is a community of die-hard Real World fans like yourself.  Sign up, hang out, create a profile, vote, blog with your friends.  You do not have to be part of the casting process to have fun on this site. But the more fun you have, the more you'll be rewarded by earning new virtual casting positions.
